Understand and Verify IGSHPA Credentials
IGSHPA provides separate directories for businesses and certified individuals. A company membership or directory entry does not establish the current credential of the person assigned to your project. Ask who will perform or supervise the work, then verify that person's claimed credential.
Business listings and individual credentials are different
Use IGSHPA's business directory to discover companies and its individual directory to check named people. Match the person and credential to your proposal. A business entry alone does not establish that every employee holds a credential. Official directory guidance; membership information.
Verify a claimed credential
- Ask who will design, drill, install, commission and supervise the system.
- Record each person's full name and the exact credential claimed.
- Use the official individual directory and confirm unclear or missing details with the issuer.
- Separately check applicable contractor and drilling licenses with the responsible local authority.
Use this check alongside references, a documented load calculation and a written system design.
Understand current and legacy programs
IGSHPA's program is moving toward training and credentials for specific job roles. Its current training uses the C448:25 standard. Older credentials may remain valid when renewed with required continuing education and without lapsing. Check the current official program information rather than relying on an old list of credential names.
Build a local shortlist
GeothermalFinder listings are a starting point for research; a listing is not proof of current IGSHPA certification. Find local installers, then verify the proposed team's credentials and experience.
