About GeothermalFinder
The independent directory and research hub for geothermal heat pump installers, homeowners, and contractors across the US.
Our Mission
GeothermalFinder was built to make geothermal energy more accessible. We provide installer listings, free planning tools, and independent research to help homeowners make informed decisions — without needing to sift through manufacturer marketing or contractor sales pitches.
Our directory covers geothermal heat pump installers across all 50 US states and 10 Canadian provinces, with service areas and direct contact information. Where an installer holds a state license or IGSHPA certification, we record it on their listing.
What We Offer
Installer Directory
Browse geothermal installers by state and service area, with license and certification details recorded where available.
Free Planning Tools
Six free planning tools for comparing complete proposals, checking loop and permit inputs, recording maintenance needs, and building transparent ownership scenarios.
Research Hub
In-depth guides on system types, regulations, incentives, soil science, and heat pump technology — updated regularly.
Editorial Independence
Advertising, where it appears, is clearly labelled as an advertisement and is kept entirely separate from our editorial and ranking decisions — buying one never influences the other. Installer listings are based on licensing and geographic service areas. Our research articles are written independently and updated annually.
We do not receive commissions or referral fees from installations.
GeothermalFinder Editorial Team
GeothermalFinder is researched and maintained by a dedicated editorial team focused on residential and light-commercial geothermal heat pump installations across the United States. Our writers bring backgrounds in HVAC trade journalism, energy policy analysis, and geothermal site assessment.
Every state regulation page, cost guide, and rebate summary on this site is verified against three classes of authoritative sources before publication: state environmental agency UIC program documentation, state energy office incentive program pages, and federal references including EPA UIC Class V well types, DOE Energy Saver, and IGSHPA training standards. We link to the original source on every numerical claim so readers can confirm current eligibility — rebate amounts, tax credit percentages, and permit fees change frequently.
What we do not do: We do not accept payment from contractors for ranking position — directory order is set by homeowner reviews and cannot be bought. The free Verified tier and paid Preferred Provider tier are clearly distinguished: paid features buy labelled visibility and profile enhancements, never a higher rank. Any advertising we carry is clearly labelled, never editorial coverage. We do not generate state pages or listing descriptions with AI without editorial review. The AI-synthesized review summaries on listing pages are clearly labeled “Based on Google reviews” and reflect real customer reviews left on Google Maps, not invented testimonials.
